6th grade GT students recently attended the 1st Annual GT Engineering Day at the Southeast Educational Co-op in Monticello. These students had the opportunity fit to work with GT students from other schools to solve various engineering challenges.
Our Eagles are set to travel to West Helena this Friday night! They defeated Hamburg last Friday night 21-20, making them 5-0 in the conference and 5-3 in the season! Show your support this week and encourage our Eagles to victory! EAGLES FLY HIGH!
With cold and flu season coming up quickly, we wanted to share this information about sickness and what to do when considering if you should send your student to school or not! We want our students at school, but we want them to be well when they are here! Please keep in mind that they need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school! Thank you for your help!

Crossett School District received an Outstanding Support trophy for our bands and floats in the Veterans Parade. This is very exciting and we are so glad so many of our students and staff participated!

EARL COLLINS FOUNDATION KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL
The Earl Collins Foundation of Kiwanis International will award a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior in this Kiwanis district. Applications are available in the counselor’s office. Applications must be returned to Mr. Sasser by January 10, 2020.
CHS will host a FAFSA night on Tuesday, October 29th to assist families in completing their FAFSA online. We had to change the date due to several college reps not being able to attend. We will meet in the Project Lab beginning at 6:00. The students’ parents 2019 tax return information will be required as well as the student’s social security number in order to complete the FAFSA.
Shay Roland, Treyveon Chapman, Griffin Courson and Shekirra Gavin were honored as Junior Rotarians today at the weekly Rotary Club meeting.
There will be a Veterans Parade this coming Saturday, October 19th at 10 a.m. Details are located on the flyer!

The Crossett School District Report to the Public will be presented at the October 15th Board of Education Meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Hugh Willis Administration Building, 219 Main St. Parents, guardians and the community are invited to attend.
Attendance is very important to a child's education! We know there will be times that students have to miss, but we encourage good attendance daily! For more information on how to track your child's grades and attendance, call your student's school office or Whitney Farmer at 364-3112. Thank you for your help!

CHS Scholarship Information: Epic Flight Academy will award one $20,000 scholarship and one $5,000 scholarship next month. The scholarship is available to current juniors and seniors in high school interested in pursuing a pilot’s license. GP Employees Children Scholarship
11th grade students whose parents are GP employees must take the PSAT their junior year to apply for the GP Employees Children Corporate Scholarship.
It will be given on Wednesday, October 16 at Crossett High School. The cost is $17 and must be paid in advance. Bring the $17 to Mrs. Person or Mr. Sasser at CHS to register. The deadline to sign up is Monday, Oct. 14.

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT: Crossett High School will have a Financial Aid Information night on Thursday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m. for current seniors and their parents to answer questions about the financial aid process in applying to colleges. Representatives from colleges will be present to to provide information and answer questions about scholarships, grants, and FAFSA.

The students earned a spot at Nationals with the Lead Outside of the Box competition. They were given a challenge yesterday and had to come up with a plan of action and present it today. The challenge was to find ways to help kids reduce stress and anxiety. They came up with Calming Corners. It’s a room where students can be sent to calm down, chill out, relieve stress, etc. it would have 4 corners: blue corner-chill corner with bean bags, soft lighting stress balls, etc; green corner-healing corner for students with stress headaches and stomach aches...it will have aromatherapy diffusers, stress balls, cold compresses, etc; purple corner-shred your feelings corner where students who are frustrated or mad or upset can go and write their feelings down or draw a picture and then shred it so nobody sees it; yellow corner-meditation corner where they can practice meditation and deep breathing/cool down techniques. I thought this was an excellent idea and they did a fantastic job planning all the details! Only 4 students could present, but all six girls planned this out, so they all qualified!
